Metro K9's structured day care is more than supervised play — every day includes handler-led enrichment, obedience reinforcement, and small-group socialization limited to 8 dogs per session. Your dog comes home calm, tired, and better mannered than when they arrived.

Day care runs Monday through Saturday. Half-day and full-day options are available. New dogs require a complimentary temperament evaluation before their first scheduled day — call or text (201) 230-2285 to schedule yours. Recurring weekly slots can be set up at checkout for consistent scheduling. All breeds and sizes are welcome, provided they pass the initial evaluation.

How Structured Day Care Works at Metro K9

Metro K9 day care is not a free-for-all play yard. Every session is handler-supervised in small groups, with enrichment activities built into the schedule and obedience reinforcement woven throughout the day. Our trainers rotate dogs through structured group time, individual attention, and rest periods — so your dog comes home genuinely tired and better behaved, not just physically spent. The same staff who run our obedience and protection programs oversee day care, which means the standards are high and the handling is consistent.

Before Your First Day

• Evaluation required — All new dogs complete a temperament and behavior evaluation before joining regular day care groups. This protects your dog, the other dogs, and ensures every placement is appropriate.
• Vaccination records — Dogs must be current on rabies, DHPP, and Bordetella before attending. Please have records available at drop-off.

What a Day Care Day Looks Like

A typical day at Metro K9 day care includes structured small-group sessions with handler oversight, scheduled rest periods between activity blocks, and brief one-on-one time with our staff for dogs that benefit from it. Dogs with incompatible play styles or energy levels are separated — we don't force mismatched animals together and call it socialization. The result is a calm, confident dog who associates day care with clear expectations and genuine engagement, not chaos.
