Breeding Program: Parents & Temperament First

We believe the parents and temperament are the most important part of every dog we produce. We are not a volume kennel. Every litter comes from a deliberate pairing: we choose the sire and dam for stable nerves, health, and real-world suitability. Both parents are health-tested; both are evaluated for temperament. Only then do we add early socialization, clear structure, and a path to your home. This page explains how we select parents, what we test for, and how we raise puppies so you know exactly what you’re getting.

Why We Focus on Parents & Temperament

No amount of training can fix a dog who wasn’t bred for stability and clarity. We select every sire and dam for temperament first—then health, structure, and working ability. Both parents are health-tested (hips, cardiac, breed-relevant screenings). We don’t breed a dog we wouldn’t stand behind ourselves. That’s how we get predictable, trainable puppies who can become reliable family dogs or serious working partners.

Science & Standards We Follow

Our program is aligned with the same standards and research that veterinary and breed organizations use to improve canine health and behavior. This isn't marketing—it's how we keep our breeding accountable and your puppy's foundation solid.

  • Health screening: We use the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) for hip, elbow, and cardiac evaluations. OFA is the gold standard for heritable orthopedic and cardiac screening in dogs and is recognized by the AKC and breed clubs.
  • Breed-specific protocols: We follow CHIC (Canine Health Information Center) recommended tests for German Shepherds and Dobermans—so both parents meet the same bar before breeding.
  • Critical socialization window: Research shows the primary socialization period in puppies is roughly 3–14 weeks. We expose our puppies to safe sights, sounds, and handling during this window so they develop confidence and resilience.
  • Temperament and genetics: Studies indicate that behavioral traits (fear, aggression, trainability) have a heritable component. Selecting stable, tested parents gives each litter a better starting point than environment and training alone can provide.
